Puppy mills are commercial dog-breeding operations – some on a massive scale, other people are Mom-Pop backyard, basement or garage set-ups. It doesn’t matter which. Profit is provided precedence over quality. The physical, mental and social good being of the young puppies and reproduction stock dogs are not important. All that matters may be the bottom line.

Responsible breeders location priority on producing the healthiest, happiest, and most properly adjusted young puppies achievable; sparing no expense. Just the opposite is true for breeding at pup mills. There is NO consideration of genetic quality, mental/physical health, and/or socialization. The truth there’s not far more outcry to shut them down, and punish the owners, is reprehensible. There is little to no concern for the wellbeing and nicely staying of propagation stock puppies or their puppies. The objective is normally to get as a lot of young puppies out of your breeding pair as cheaply as possible. Quality food is an unnecessary expense. Medical attention is definitely an unnecessary expense.

Typically pup mill puppies are sold by means of what is called a Class B broker and/or middleman to flea markets, on-line websites and pet shops. The puppy’s new owner frequently receives promises of receiving pedigree “registration” papers. The majority by no means receive them…others are falsified.

There is completely no rational justification for puppy mills.

The bulk of them are overcrowded, illness ridden, unsanitary and ruthless. Most often, the reproduction stock as soon as “used up”, if not slaughtered inhumanely or marketed to study labs, will live the rest their short lives caged in unsafe, and unsanitary conditions.
