June 4th, 2009Pets AdviceI remember my first time seeing a professional display of pet portraits. It was on a trip with my friends a few years back. We decided to stop and visit a few museums. One of them being this lovely art museum. When I walked in I immediately felt how wonderful this art was.
We walked through the halls admiring the beautiful paintings and how the were attractively displayed. There were oil, pastel, and watercolor paintings. Each hall had a special theme and really captured the reality of the pictures. The first hall was all flowers and nature, it was as if you were walking through a garden. I loved each and every painting as the artist truly showed their talent through each one. As we were walking down the one hall the theme began to change, it was now pet portraits.
This was the first time I saw pet portraits displayed in a museum, and it was amazing because all the paintings were done by one artist. The artist must have been a pet lover because every pet you can imagine was hanging on the wall. The sheer number of portraits of pets was truly amazing. Below are just a few that I loved.
The first was a picture of a dog. It was a little white poodle. The details were amazing. She wore a pink bow and sat on a matching doggie chair. The next one was two twin cats, at least they looked like twins. They were both midnight black with sparkling blue eyes that really were captured in the painting. There were plenty more pet portraits in between, but the one that really caught my eye was the picture of a horse. It was apparent that this horse was a beloved family pet. It was a white stallion and his owner. It truly jumped out of it’s frame and looked as if it were real.
There are so many different ways you can devote your love to animals. I really appreciated this hall of pet portraits because it showed that the artist was a true animal lover. Each animal seemed so real with a distinct personality – the artist really captured each of them.
You can see the love and devotion the artist has when you look at their work. The affection the artist had for animals and pets came through each painting. Next time you are in a museum, or even at a local art show, look at the details of the paintings. You will be surprised how much you can learn from them.
