Some people make the decision to put their dog in a crate while they are at work.  Many people may leave their dog in a crate overnight.  Choose only one as it is not a good idea to do both of them. 

If you keep a dog in a crate for 8 hours during the day and then 8 hours at night they will spend more than half their lives in a crate.  Please do not do that.

Crate training will take a significant amount of time if done properly.  Although it make take several weeks or even months, having your dog crate trained is truly worthwhile.  A crucial component of crate training is to make sure your dog learns to relate positively to the crate. 

You should help your dog learn that the crate is a safe place for him or her while you are not at home.
