    As a rule, there is no clear and cut rule when designing or creating a saltwater fish tank. Although this type of ecosystem requires more patience and maintenance than the ordinary freshwater fish tank. It is a very expensive hobby and at the same time very attention demanding. Try considering the following before deciding to have a saltwater system in your home:

    • Find a suitable location for your saltwater fish tank. This is one of the most important decision. A bigger space gives you the opportunity to buy a bigger tank, while a smaller space means you have to settle for a smaller tank.
    • Ensure that the tank will be easily accessible for maintenance and find a place that does not get direct sunlight. This will prevent the build up of algae in the tank.
    • Be financially prepared. You must be ready financially because a saltwater fishtank can really drain your finances.
    • Find the time to maintain your tank. Allocate your time so you can regularly maintain your saltwater aquarium. It needs your commitment. You may need to allocate at least 30 minutes a day or three to four hours per week to maintain your saltwater aquarium. Another three to four hours per month is needed for a full tank cleaning.
