It isn’t easy to train your puppy, but if you want your life with the dog to be happy, he needs to be trained. A dog wants and needs a leader and teacher. Without this, a dog may become an unruly nuisance, causing stress for you, the dog and your family. Placing the dog elsewhere isn’t the answer.

The willingness to properly train your dog in obedience is key. It is also your responsibility. You should not wait until your dog begins to act up before you begin his training. Training should begin the day your pet becomes a part of the family. It might be hard at times and will push your patience to the edge, but if you keep training then all that will work will result in a dog that is trained and enjoyed by your whole family.

You will see that there are several advantages for both of you that come from dog training and obedience training. First and foremost, your pet will now behave properly and will be a pleasure to have around, bringing amusement and cheer to the family. A dog left untrained in obedience will display behaviors you won’t like. These include but are not limited to: barking, biting, chewing, digging and running off or escaping.

These unrestrained activities will disrupt the normal life of the family, frazzle your nerves, and cause ill will and resentment toward the dog. You will feel anger and stress because of your dog’s actions, and soon tire of the damage and consequences of the ungovernable conduct. A dog that digs your flowers up, chews on your furniture, and disappears up the street at every opportunity is just not a satisfactory pet. The final result of improper training and a disobedient pet may be that the owner decides to give the dog away rather than continue to deal with its misbehavior.

This is no benefit to either the dog or the owner, and it emphasizes the need for proper training from the beginning. The time you spend training your dog will be very gratifying. Dogs love to please their owners, so take advantage of that. He avoids the difficulties and predicaments and the chances of injury or death that an untrained dog has.

A dog that darts out of the yard every time he gets loose runs the danger of being struck by a vehicle. Also, if they run away they may get lost and not be able to get back home, resulting in them becoming malnourished and possibly starving. The animal control officer in your town is always on the lookout for dogs that aren’t leashed and running free. Many dogs apprehended by animal control are euthanized.

There are other bad things that may happen if you do not give your dog the training he needs. Dogs should be given only safe toys and treats. Chewing is not only destructive but can be hazardous to a dog. As stated earlier, dogs are curious by nature. They are drawn to things that could be poisonous or fatal. Since a dog may eat just about anything, a blockage in the intestine is not only likely, but a matter of great concern.

The advantages of dog training and obedience are great for you and your dog, but there is no way all of the benefits could be listed here. But, you should now see that training your dog is very important and will create a better life for both of you in the long run.
