Taking a new pet to your home is thrilling. But there is extra sacrifice to be made for such an experience like training the pet in the basic rules.

Basic obedience training is a good place to start training your dog in that you will establish a language and a bond between you and your pet.

You will get your dog to understand what you expect from him and he will behave to please you. You can choose from several different dog obedience training modes

Leash training and Reward training are two of the training methods that are mostly used. The one you choose depends on the kind of relationship you seek to establish with your dog.

These two methods will be described in details in this article.

One rather strict mode, called leash training or called collar training is useful for you when your dog does not obey you.

Leash training is more popular as method of training a dog. The leash helps the dog learn and if the dog disobeys you, the leash will help in the correction

This kind of training is useful for dogs used as military and security reasons. They can’t afford to disobey their master.

It may not be wise to use this form of training on a puppy due to the harsh nature however.

Reward training is the other mode that has gained popularity in the past years as it relates to house training pets.

This method of training uses rewards like toys and snacks as motivation for obedience from your dog

You can start with rewarding the dog’s favorite food for doing a few things.

You can slowly replace toys and food with “good” “bravo and other words of appreciation.

You can rewards it with a pat on a back making it feel like it has accomplished something worthwhile.

A compassionate dog owner would probably rather stay away from leash training. Reward training is definitely one of the better ways of training the dog. It does require a lot of patience and time.

If though, you want your dog’s strong and disciplined like military dogs, a better training mode would be leash training

Always keep in mind that your desire for your dog is that he listens to you and these training methods will help you to achieve that.
