Finding a suitable place for your kitten to sleep is a basic requirement.Furthermore, it requires a great deal of thought before going to collect your new kitten!

Many people are hold strong views on this subject.They do not want the kitten to sleep in any other place but in its own bed-maybe a basket that has been especially bought for it.They do not want the new kitten making its way into bedrooms or sleeping on the furniture.There are many cat owners who do not segregate the kitten from its human family and instead allow it to choose where it would like to sleep.There are no correct or incorrect decisions on this matter, the only thing that matters is what works for you and your family.Prior to introducing your kitten its new environment try to ensure that all the decisons and preparations have been made.

Please ensure you give suffcient thought into where you wish your kitten to sleep either in its own bed, in the kitchen or your bedroom or even another area of the house.This kitten has entered into your home after being taken from its mother earlier on that day.When individuals are around Kitten may well be happy to play and be made a fuss of, yet when they leave your kitten may well be feeling lonely and scared.If possible place the blanket his mother used into his basket as this will hold her scent providing familiarity and security. 

It is unwise to allow your kitten on your bed especially on the first few nights as its gives the impression that it is acceptable.Once established it is a hard habit to break and so sleeping beside you should never be encouraged.You might need to think about sleeping next to his bed for a couple of nights until he is more settled in this new environment.

Should you decide instead that kitty is welcome to sleep in whichever bed he prefers, then you need to take a few safety precautions to ensure that he isn’t suffocated or squished during the night.Arrange pillows or rolled up blankets around him to act as a buffer failing that if he has basket see if there is an area he can sit without being in danger of being kicked off! 

Despite thinking you know where your cat is likely to sleep be prepared to find him elsewhere!  Cats in general have a tendency to be opinionated and do their own thing regardless of how it fits into your plans, so accept this from the get-go, and then if you try to get kitty excited about where you want him to sleep and fail, find a compromise that you can both be happy about!
